Hillside Elementary School PTA Event Code of Conduct
Welcome! Our goal is to create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for every family. By attending this event, you agree to help us maintain these standards.
For the PTA Board Members and Volunteers:
- Set a Good Example: Follow all rules set by the PTA, the school, or the venue at which the event is taking place.
- Be Fair: Treat all attendees with fairness and respect.
- Be a Helper: Be ready to help any attendees with any questions or issues that may arise during the event.
For the Grown-Up Attendees (Set the Tone):
- Be a Role Model: Show our kids how to handle crowds, lines, and rules with patience. Use positive communication and appropriate tones and words towards your children and others.
- Eyes on Your Crew: Parents are responsible for the supervision of their own children at all times. Please ensure they stay within designated event areas and follow all event rules.
- Respect the Space: We are guests in this building. Help us keep it clean by properly disposing of trash and following all posted or issued venue rules.
- Kindness Counts: Treat volunteers, staff, and other families with courtesy. If a conflict arises, seek out a PTA Board Member and keep all conversation appropriate and courteous as children may be listening.
For the Students (Do Your Part):
- Follow the Leader: Listen to instructions from all adults, including parent volunteers.
- Hands to Yourself: Keep play safe and friendly. Bullying, pushing, roughhousing or any other physical contact or intimidation will result in removal from the event.
Zero Tolerance Policy:
To ensure everyone's safety, the following are strictly prohibited for all attendees, whether student, parent, or PTA Board Member/Volunteers, and will result in immediate removal from the event, suspension from future events, or expulsion from the PTA at the sole discretion of the PTA Executive Board:
- Tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, or illegal substances on school grounds.
- Harassment, aggressive language, physical threats or contact, or any other behavior that causes fear of imminent harm, whether it is between students, parents, or aimed at a PTA volunteer.
- Intentional damage to school or personal property.
- For events where registration is required and monitored, only registered students are permitted to attend and no friends, siblings, or other guests may enter the event without appropriate registration or prior authorization from the PTA Board.
Non-compliance with any terms in this Code will result in a request to leave the event to maintain a safe environment for others. Non-compliance with a request to leave by any PTA Board member or School employee will result in Livingston Police Department being called to handle the disturbance.
